Jean went to the Petit Seminaire in Quebec to study for the priesthood. One of his Aunts was paying his way, but when he decided against being a priest, she refused to pay any longer. Therefore, Jean substituted his education for a teaching degree. He moved to St. Lazare, Manitoba in 1902 to teach at the mission. He later went to St. Boniface to obtain his Bachelor of Arts. He later returned to St. Lazare to teach once again. He taught most of his life. He taught in many places including Pumpkin Plains, Somerset, Laurier, St. Boniface, Ste. Marthe and St. Madelaine. When he wasn't teaching he occupied his time by farming. He married Gratia Tremblay on August 23, 1910. They lived in an old log house on the other side of the river. Gratia was kept busy raising their children as they had 19 all together. She later died on April 16, 1944 at the young age of 50. Jean later moved in a log cabin on one of his sons farm then purchased a little mobile home and situated it on Cecile Blouin's property. He later moved into the Villa in St. Lazare where he died on October 20, 1975.
