SOUTHBRIDGE - Mrs. Aurore (Monpas) Spenard, 91, of 31 High Street, died this morning at Harrington Memorial Hospital.
She was a Gold Star Mother and the widow of Alphonse Spenard. Mrs. Spenard is survived by two sons, Leo J. of Sturbridge and Bruno L. of Southbridge; six daughters, Sisters Bertha and Rachel of the Carmelite Order in the Philipines; Mrs. Alice Toutant of North Grosvenordale, CT; Irene (Mrs. Adelard) Bergeron and Gertrude (Mrs. Ernest) Gregoire, both of Southbridge; Miss Theresa Spenard of Grafton, a brother Conrad Monpas of Montreal, Canada; 20 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
She was born in Canada, a daughter of Hormidas and Agathe (Dore) Monpas.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9:30am from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton Street, followed by a mass at 10:30am at Notre Dame Church. Burial will be in Nerw Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are tomorrow 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm.
