Suggested edit: The late Nazarie Durand, who died on Friday, Feb. 8, at 5 p.m. was 91 years and 14 days old. He was born in the Province of Quebec in the district of Montreal.
He was married to Miss Leocadie Berneche in the year 1862. They remained in Eastern Canada till 1869, then emigrated to Faribault, Minn. His wife died June 8th, 1916 and in the fall of that year he came to Alberta to reside with his eldest son, Albert Durand, at Lomond, where he remained until the time of his death.
He is survived by four sons and five daughters. They are Mrs. C. L. Babineau of Minneapolis, Minn., Albert Durand of Lomond, Mrs. O. Pilquist of Faribault, Minn., Mrs. Joe Thibodeau of Faribault, Minnesota, Joseph P. Durand of Lomond, George Durand of Bemidji, Minn., Mrs. N. Pineur of Faribault, Minn., Mrs. D. Piquette of Bertha, Minn., and Alfred Durand of St. Paul, Minn.
The relatives at his bedside at the hour of his death were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Durand, Joseph P. Durand, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hart, Leonard Durand, Mr. and Mrs. V. R. Dalton, Laurence and Esther Durand. The service was conducted at the home of Albert Durand on Monday, the 11th, Rev. Father McLaughlin of Vulcan, officiating. A large number of friends paid their tribute of respect to the deceased by assembling for the funeral services. The interment was made in the Travers cemetery.
