How to indicate nick names (names they were known by, not their birth name)
Date: 2025-07-27 11:52:00

Blaise André

Hello,

I am entering names of people in my family. The first name is Francis Darveau (from multiple sources), but he was known as Frank Darveau. If I enter either Francis "Frank" Darveau or Francis (Frank) Darveau, the database puts Francis-Frank Darveau, which indicates that Frank is a middle name (which it is not).

What notation do I use to make the final entry indicate that Frank is a "known-by" name versus his birth name.

Maybe I need to keep Frank out of the name line and put it in the notes section?

Thank you for any help you may offer.

Blaise André Darveaux
