Joseph left about 1856 and went to Gaspesie with 3 of his grown children, Mathilde, Joseph and Thimothee(Euphrosine Belanger).
Her children were not considered legitimate because she was not
married to Joseph Auclair in the Catholic Church. When her daughter was born the parents were mentioned but when her son William was they were not. He was baptized as Guillaume Celestin. The god-father was his uncle Pierre-Celestin Thibault and his god-mother was his aunt Radegonde Thibault.
In the 1851 and 1861 census he was William Auclair but after his father left he took his mother's maiden name Thibault.
In 1871 he was living with his mother and uncle Abraham in St-Eugene, L'Islet, age 24, voyageur.
