Gordon Blacquiere of Toronto Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2019, aged 86.

He was the beloved husband of Simone Blacquiere; loving father of Brian Blacquiere (Christine) and Kevin Blacquiere (Joanne Poirier); and grandfather of Ethan, Kyle and Kurtis Blacquiere.

He is also survived by his brothers, Herbie Blacquiere (Joan), Rodney Blacquiere (Anne) and Sonny Blacquiere; and sisters, Pearl Gallant (Gordon), Muriel Lynch (Patrick), Betty Gallant and Joan Blanchard (Eugene).

Gordon was predeceased by his brothers, Freddie Blacquiere, William Blacquiere and Wayne Blacquiere; and sisters, Winifred Morrissey and Valerie Graham. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Friday, November 15, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Hope River, on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

The funeral for Gordon Blacquiere, of Toronto Road, was held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Hope River. The pastor for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Arulraj Santiago who proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by his family. The first and second readings, from Ecclesiastes and 1 John, were read by Marion Murphy, who also led the prayers of the faithful. The altar servers were Dennis Doiron, Estelle Bourgeois and Joan Doiron. Marion Murphy assisted Father Raj as a Eucharistic minister. The music was provided by Dino Dunsford, Brian Knox and Heartz Godkin, with Sister Phyllis Gallant, CND, as organist. The hymns were Entrance, “The Last Mile of the Way”; Psalm, “Psalm of the Good Shepherd”, with Jimmy McAleer as Cantor; Gospel Acclamation, with Jimmy McAleer as Cantor; offertory, “Amazing Grace”, played on the violin by son, Brian Blacquiere; communion, “Table of Plenty”; commendation, “Songs of the Angels”; and recessional, “How Great Thou Art”. Pallbearers were Brian, Kevin, Sonny, Ethan, Kyle and Kurtis Blacquiere. Interment took place in the church cemetery where Father Raj conducted the committal service.
