Biographie Eileen Levesque

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen Mary Lalonde (née Leveque), on August 15th in her 88th year at her home in Pioneer Manor. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and teacher and will be missed by many. Beloved wife of Gilles (aka Roddy, pre-deceased 2010) for 50 years. Loving mother to Kevin, Rob (Lisa), and Karen (Kevin) and cherished grandmother to Riley, Sean, Cooper, Keegan, and Morgan. Eileen was born on a farm in Maynooth, Ontario on October 5th, 1933 to Joseph and Nora Leveque (Netterville). Eileen was the eldest of five children and sister to Gwen (Royal) Malette both predeceased, Gerry (Anne) Leveque, Patricia Chidley, and Maureen (Allyn) Gunter.

Our mother was hard-working, inspiring, and dedicated to her family, friends, and her students. Eileen earned her teaching certificate from Peterborough Normal School and taught in Peterborough prior to moving to Levack and becoming a teacher at Levack Public School. In Levack, she met Roddy and they married on July 16th, 1960. She was an active member of a variety of charities and worked with special needs children. She earned her specialist certificate and her degree from Laurentian University in 1979 alongside her close friend Beryl Pressey. Eileen enjoyed many summers at the family camp on Windy Lake.

We wish to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Pioneer Manor who showed our mother kindness, friendship, and care. A private family mass to celebrate Eileen’s life will be held at St Bartholomew’s Church in Levack followed by a burial at Maplecrest Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home,
