Mr. Samuel McPherson At his home on the Black River, a mile west of the village of Lancaster, on Tues the 16th, after a short illness occurred the death of Mr.Samuel McPherson, a highly respected and valued citizen of that vicinity. Mr. McPherson was a son of the late Major Daniel McPherson and was born 79 years ago on the farm where he had spent all his life.
His passing will not only be an irreparable loss to the family circle where he was a devoted husband and loving father but will be keenly felt by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. He was a man possessed of many stirling qualities, who took a deep interest in all that pertained to the welfare of the community and the county at large.
The funeral was held on Thurs, Dec 18 in St. Andrews Church and was conducted by his pastor, Rev. L.H. Fowler. He was laid to rest in the family plot there. Pallbearers were R.J. Pattingale, Colin McPherson, D.J. McPherson, A.Kennedy, J.A.McLean and Thomas McIntosh.
Beautiful floral tributes were placed on the casket including, wreaths from the family, St.Andrews Church Session (of which the deceased was a member). Miss Ethel Sangster, Miss D. McPhail, Mr. Charles Kane, Montreal; cut flowers, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Aitken, GlenWalter's pray, Mr. J.B.Chapman.
Besides his widow, who was formerly, Miss Mary Aitken of Glen Walter, he leaves 3 sons and 2 daughters, namely Ernest of South Lancaster, Wm. D. of Vancouver B.C., James at home; Mrs. Brownrigg and Miss Ruth McPherson of Montreal.
