Biographie Sylvie Viel

SYLVIE ST. PIERRE CROWN POINT, N.Y. - Sylvie St. Pierre passed away on April 8, 2010, at the age of 78, at the Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, after a long illness. She was born in Squatec, Province of Quebec, on April 16, 1931. As a young woman she joined the Canadian Air Force and worked as a secretary at the hospital in Montreal, Canada, where she met her first husband, Henri Niro, they had seven children. She met her second husband, Roch St. Pierre and moved her family to Crown Point where two families became one family. She enjoyed many things but most of all she enjoyed taking care of her family and sharing special moments with her husband, children and grandchildren, especially fishing with "La Belle Lisa," her talks with Stacy, and babysitting her grandson, John-Roch. She worked alongside her husband on their farm to provide for her family, cooking, cleaning, canning, and selling farmfresh eggs. She was a devout Catholic and a regular attendant of Sacred Heart Church in Crown Point. She traveled to "Our Lady of Lourdes" church in Schroon Lake to become one of the first lay ministers for Sacred Heart parish and the diocese of Ogdensburg. After raising her family of 16 children, she went on to become a home health care provider working with the elderly, which she enjoyed immensely. She is survived by Mitch (Gail) St. Pierre of Crown Point; Joanne (Andrus) Gadway of Norwood; Marie Pendell of Glens Falls; Lucie (Gary) Bobbie of Crown Point, Norbert (Debbie) St. Pierre of Tenn.; Helene Carr and her friend John of Colonie; Jeanette (Mark) Peters of Crown Point; Louise (Ron) Dean of Texas; Lisa (Matt) Apgar of Vt.; Celine Niro of Tupper Lake; John Niro and companion Rose of Glens Falls; Florence (Stephen) Sears of Crown Point; Mario (Marina) of Calif.; Luc (Beth) Niro of Saranac Lake; Sylvie Niro of Tupper Lake; and Eugene (Tracy) St. Pierre of Minn.; 36 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. As well as her brother, Jean-Louis (Therese) Viel and her sister, Jacinthe, both of Grandby; four sisters of Trois Riviere and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Henri Niro in 1966; Roch St. Pierre in 2001; her father, Wilfred Viel; her mother, Leona; her step-mother, Elise; 12 brothers and sisters; two step-sisters; one grandson, Joseph St. Pierre; and a granddaughter, Jacqueline (Peach) Hunter. She will be greatly missed by all whose life she touched and changed forever. Donations in her memory can be made to the American Diabetes Foundation at www.diabetes.org At her request, there will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will take at 11 a.m. on April 12 at Sacred Heart Church in Crown Point. A gathering will follow in the basement of the church after the service.
